Imphal, August 18 2026: Assam Rifles organised multi-sport initiatives across Chandel and Tengnoupal districts, aiming to strengthen community engagement, physical fitness and youth development in the border areas.

In Chandel, Assam Rifles conducted the T Nampao Sports Feast from August 14 to 17 at T Nampao.

The event featured the 09 Men's Soccer Cup with participation of 30 teams from Moreh in Tengnoupal district, and from Khenjoi, New Samtal and adjoining areas in Chandel.

An Assam Rifles team also took part in the tournament to foster camaraderie with local players.

The sports feast further included Men's and Women's Volleyball Tournaments with 10 teams in each category, highlighting gender inclusivity.

Students from T Nampao School and nearby schools presented cultural performances.

The event was attended by 12 village chiefs and nearly 400 local spectators, reflecting strong community participation.

Simultaneously, Assam Rifles organised a two-day Badminton Competition at Tengnoupal Town on August 17 and 18 .

Thirteen teams comprising 26 players competed in a spirited atmosphere.

Personnel interacted with participants and encouraged them to imbibe leadership, discipline, resilience and sportsmanship.

Outstanding performers were felicitated during the closing ceremony.

Officials said such constructive sporting events are part of Assam Rifles' continued effort to channel youth energy positively and to strengthen trust, harmony and social development in the region.
