Moirang, May 18 2026:
A sit-in protest demanding a military crackdown against Kuki narco-terrorists, an end to what protesters described as India's "proxy war" in Manipur, and a response from the Government to seven questions raised by the people, was staged today at Nambol Hao Keithel in Bishnupur district.
The protest demonstration was jointly organised by the Kabui Union Manipur, Bishnupur District, and the United Protection Committee, Nambol, under the aegis of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) .
Residents from 10 Kabui villages of Bishnupur district participated in the protest, holding placards and raising slogans demanding restoration of peace and security in the State.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Kabui Union Manipur, Bishnupur district, president Golmei Jiten Kabui stated that the violence in Manipur, which has continued for nearly three years, must be brought to an immediate end.
He alleged that both the Government of India and the State Government had failed to stop the violence and instead allowed continued conflict among communities.
He further urged the Government to deport alleged Kuki militants "back to their place of origin" and take urgent steps to restore peace, normalcy and stability in the State.
