Imphal, August 16 2026:
Two health initiatives were organised in Imphal on Sunday to address community health needs.
A free eye screening camp was jointly held by Yaima Eye Hospital, Chashma Studio and Yaima Mission for Vision at Shree Shree Nityananda Mandir, Imphal.
Speaking at the camp, Arambam Sushma, In-Charge of Optometry Department, Yaima Eye Hospital, said cases of eye problems are rising with increased use of digital devices.
She noted a surge in cataract and retinal issues among the elderly and myopia among children.
"Yaima Eye Hospital regularly organises school and community eye camps.
We provide reading glasses, cataract screening and affordable surgery.
People should get refraction tests done by qualified optometrists instead of buying power glasses from roadside vendors, as wrong lenses can cause further damage", she said.
Sushma added that Chashma Studio has opened outlets at Khurai and RIMS Road to provide quality eye care and glasses.
She said Yaima Hospital and Chashma Studio will continue holding such camps.
In another event, Uripok Apunba Lup, UAL, organised a voluntary blood donation camp at the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Imphal.
UAL vice president Kh Tarunkumar said the camp was dedicated to the martyrs of Manipur's freedom struggle.
Oyer 50 donors from 48 affiliated clubs donated blood.
He appealed to the public to donate blood, stating "One unit of blood can save a life.
Let us come forward to address the shortage in the State" .
