Academic Awareness Programme on "Impact of drugs on student community" held

Imphal, February 16 2026: The Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) organised a 1 -Day Academic Awareness Programme today at the Global School of Human Resources in Keirao Khunou, Imphal East District.

The programme, conducted as part of CADA's ongoing anti-drug campaign, aimed to discuss the severe impact of intoxicants on society, particularly within the student community.

As per a release issued by CADA, the programme was held under the theme, "Mayai Kaba Nisana Maheiroi Khunaida Piba Cheitheng" (Impact of drugs on the student community).

The event was graced by RK Meenalini, Administrator, Global School of Human Resources; Hijam Priyokumar, president, CADA; and Shambanduram Inaotombi, vice-president, CADA Imphal East District Committee as presidium members.

Ningthoujam Doren, vice-president of CADA, served as the resource person for the programme.

In his address, Ningthoujam Doren highlighted the alarming rate at which people, from youth to elders, are dying daily due to the consumption of alcohol and other drugs.

He described the situation as a frightening prospect for the future and stressed the urgent need for collective action to protect the next generation.

Doren strictly advised students never to experiment with drugs, as even a single test can lead to addiction and subsequent ruin, causing significant damage to society.

He emphasized that for the community to be free from this menace, the public must be fully aware of those affected by drugs, and local clubs and Meira Paibis must take an active role in prevention efforts.

He also called for strong action from the Manipur Government on this issue.

Hijam Priyokumar reminded students that their education is for the betterment of the nation and their families.

Priyokumar called for all families associated with the school to become drug-free and mentioned that the nation is currently facing "narcochemical warfare, population warfare, and culture warfare" that must be understood and addressed.
