'Joy to the World'...chants Kangpokpi Churches

Kangpokpi, December 13 2015: The 18th Advent Christmas celebration was held at Kangpokpi Christian Church on Sunday.

The programme was organised by Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship under the theme "Joy to the World" .

Thousands of peoples from different churches within Kangpokpi attended the programme.

Song competition among the women choirs of 15 different churches of KTCF marked the main event of the celebration.

Rev Dr Letzathang Haokip, Principal, Manipur Theological College, Kangpokpi attended as the main speaker of the event while members of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, Kangpokpi Youth Union apart from Pastors, Reverends, Ordained Deacons, elders, members of 15 Churches within the town also attended the celebration.

Rev Thangjangul Touthang, Pastor, Chongthu Baptist Church Association, Kangpokpi invoked the opening prayer after a melodious welcome song by Kanggui Christian Khanglai.

ev K Hangshing, Vice Chairman, KTCF delivered the welcome address.

Based on the theme from the Gospel of Luke chapter 2:10-14, Rev Dr Letzathang Haokip stated that "what the angels proclaimed was not just the good news of 'joy' but the good news of 'Mega Joy' for all people, for you and for me." The Church leader stressed that Christmas does not come in a store, while adding that the core of Christmas can never be taken away because the real joy of Christmas is grounded, anchored and tied to the love of God that "nothing can separate you from it" .

Rev Dr Letzathang suggested that in order to keep oneself in joy this Christmas, "just remember to give your worries to God, refuse to focus on what you do not have, include time for rest, never forget the reason for the season, consider your future and hold your thoughts captive." "It is my desire to take preventive action that I want this Christmas to be the most joyful Christmas that any of us has ever had", he added.

In the song competition, Women Choir of Kanggui Christian Church bagged the first prize while Women Choir of KBC bagged second spot.

TBA was placed third.

All the participating Churches were distributed a memento each along with sugar and milk as a gift of Advent Christmas by Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship.

The grand celebration ended with the congregation singing together, "Joy to the World, the Lord is come" before Rev Siehpao Hangshing, Pastor, KIBC invoked the benediction.
