Imphal, October 13 2026:
Meitei Leepun has warned against doctors allegedly withholding drugs and forcing patients to buy them from Pharmacy at RIMS Hospital.
Speaking to reporters at Langol, Imphal, this afternoon, the organisation's leader Heisnam Shilan said that the alleged practice of withholding drugs/medicines by some doctors at RIMS has caused great inconvenience to the public.
RIMS is supposed to provide medicines to patients for treatment.
However, some doctors, in collusion with medical representatives and Pharmacies, are believed to be allegedly withholding the medicines and forcing patients to buy them from Pharmacies, Shilan said.
If the doctors concerned do not stop such unethical practices immediately, the Meitei Leepun will make their names public, Shilan cautioned.
The Meitei Leepun leader further alleged that some doctors at RIMS Imphal and INIMS Porompat are diverting/referring emergency patients to private hospitals and private laboratories for medical tests.
Some doctors, meanwhile, are prescribing particular medicines which are only available at designated pharmacies.
Such practices of doctors done in collusion with medical representatives and pharmacies are causing undue inconvenience to patients, Shilan added.
All the doctors at RIMS Imphal and JNIMS Porompat must uphold the ethics of the profession and provide healthcare services with sincerity and dedication, and shun all unethical practices for gain, Shilan asserted.
He also commented on the recent violence and killings at Makui village and condemned it in the strongest terms.
The State Govt must take up appropriate measures, including steps to detect and identify illegal immigrants, to curb violence and restore normalcy, Shilan added.
