Full dress rehearsal held in Kakching ahead of 80th Independence Day

Kakching, August 12 2026:
The District Administration, Kakching, conducted a full dress rehearsal at the District Sports Association (DSA) Ground, Kakching Turel Wangma, on Wednesday as part of preparations for the 80th Independence Day celebration on August 15.The parade was commanded by SDPO Kakching Khundrakpam Hemabati and witnessed the participation of contingents from the Indian Reserve Battalion (ERB), Civil Police, Village Defence Force (VDF), Traffic Police, Armed Veterans/Ex-Servicemen and ASHA workers, besides students from various schools and educational institutions.
The Southern Manipur Band Party Academy also participated in the rehearsal.
Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R is scheduled to hoist the National Flag and take the salute from the march-past contingents at the DSA Ground on August 15.Three cultural troupes are also scheduled to perform during the Independence Day celebration.
As part of the preparations, the DC Office Complex has been illuminated with tricolour lights, while officials and staff of the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) have been conducting cleanliness drives at various locations.
Meanwhile, the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has been gaining momentum in the district, with government officials, school students and teachers participating in various activities.
The campaign, being observed from August 9 to 17, aims to encourage citizens to hoist the National Flag and promote patriotism, national unity and awareness of India's cultural heritage.
