National Library Day observed

To commemorate the 132nd birth anniversary of Prof SR Ranganathan, Padma Shri (The Father of Library movement in India), Central Library, JNIMS celebrated National Library Day at Central Library Hall today.
The celebration was grace by JNIMS, Director, Prof L Usharani Devi; JNIMS, Medical Superintendent, Prof Kh Lokeshwor Singh; JNIMS, Dean (Academic), Prof L Supriya Devi and Chief Librarian, Dr S Sophiarani as presidium members.
As part of the celebration, Prof L Usharani Devi launched the "Go Green Library Mission" and a Prepladder Application, an e-learning application app for NEET-PG aspirants.
She also assured the development of better infrastructure and equipment for the Library.
The Director also presented the Best Reader Award of the year to Dr Ningthoujam Somolata and Dr Syachul.
Dr S Sophiarani gave a keynote briefing on the biography of the father of the Library Prof SR Ranganathan and highlighted the significance of the Medical Library.
Prof Kh Lokheshwor Singh stated that a Library is a Temple of Learning and advised the student to use the maximum benefit of the Library Services.
Similarly, State Central Library, Imphal in collaboration with Manipur Library Association (MALA) celebrated National Library Day at its auditorium today.
It was attended by K Radhakumar Singh, retired Commissioner, Art & Culture; RK Rameshwor Singh, president, MALA; Dr K Sobita Devi, retired Director, Art & Culture; and N Giridhari Singh, retired Librarian, RIMS as presidium members.
At the event, Dr Th Khomdon, Librarian, MUC and L Sabita Devi, ex-president, MALA spoke about the importance of celebrating the Library Day.
Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of the Spot Painting Competition conducted on August 11 .
