Imphal, July 12 2026: Yaiskul Apunba Meira Paibi on Sunday staged a protest at Yaiskul demanding justice for Class 10 student Thangjam Malemnganba of CC Higher Secondary School.

Malemnganba is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of JNIMS Hospital following a recent incident on the campus of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School.

Carrying placards demanding "Punish the culprits" and "Police take swift action", the protesters urged authorities to conduct a fair investigation.

Speaking to the media, Meira Paibi secretary L Shantibala said parents send children to school not only for education but also for discipline.

"It is unfortunate that violence occurred among students.

We demand the truth behind the incident be made public by police", she said.

She further questioned how a teacher could severely assault a Class 10 student with a dangerous object.

"If it were your own child, would you beat like this? The school authorities have not even inquired about the student's condition till today.

This is unacceptable", she added.

She demanded immediate action and justice for Malemnganba.
