Manipur's healthcare gets boost as 2 doctors get top CAHO posts

In a proud and historic moment for Manipur's healthcare fraternity, two leading doctors from the State have secured key national leadership positions within the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO) .
The appointments were announced during the prestigious CAHOCON 2026, held at the Chennai Trade Centre in Tamil Nadu.
Dr Palin Khundongbam, CMD of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, has been appointed as the Chairman for the Northeast Zone of CAHO.
Concurrently, Dr Asit Kumar Debnath, Medical Director of Mother's Care Children Hospital & Research Centre, was named the State Chairman for Manipur, CAHO .

The 10th edition of CAHOCON holds global significance as it marked the first South Asia Regional Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), placing the event on the world map for healthcare quality and patient safety discussions.
The conference gathered over 2500 delegates, including leading healthcare experts and policymakers from India and abroad, to deliberate on the advancement of quality healthcare systems.
The former Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, inaugurated the conference.
In a press release, the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI), Manipur Chapter, welcomed these appointments, hailing them as a major milestone for the State and the Northeast region.
The chapter stated that this recognition "reflects the growing contribution of Manipur's healthcare sector and strengthens our commitment to quality-driven, patient-centric care" .
With representation now established at both State and regional levels within CAHO, Manipur is strategically positioned to play a more active role in shaping healthcare quality, accreditation, and patient safety initiatives across the entire Northeast region.
