Pherzawl kicks off 7th Poshan Pakhwada campaign, anti-rabies vaccination drive

With a mission to boost nutrition awareness in Pherzawl, Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching inaugurated the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada campaign on Wednesday at Bukpi Community Hall.
Organised by the District ICDS Cell, Pherzawl, the function was attended by various District Level Officials, Anganwadi workers and supervisors, students and community members.
At the launch of the Poshan Pakhwada campaign, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of prioritizing maternal and infant nutrition, alongside community engagement, to promote overall health and well-being, particularly during the critical first 1,000 days of life.
Nutritious and organic vegetables were also displayed and distributed to pregnant and lactating mothers, as part of the Government effort to combat malnutrition.
The Poshan Pakhwada 2025 campaign is being implemented by the ICDS Cell, Pherzawl, and will run from April 8 to 22 covering the whole district.
Meanwhile, the district administration has also launched a mass anti-rabies vaccination drive in response to a surge in dog bite and rabies cases in neighbouring Churachandpur district.
The drive offers free vaccinations for dogs in villages like Pherzawl, Senvon and Patpuihmun to curb rabies infection.
