Thoubal, November 10 2025: A special talk programme on "Social and Cultural Relations between Meitei and Tangkhul" was held today at the Conference Hall of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal.

The programme was jointly organised by the Department of History, Government of Manipur, and Waikhom Mani Girls' College.

The programme was graced by Associate Professor Dr Jacob Luiram of Department of History (Manipur University) as the chief guest and resource person; principal of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Professor H Manoranjan Sharma as the functional president; and K Jina Devi, HOD of Dept of History, Waikhom Mani Girls' College, as guest of honour.

At the event, the resource person and chief guest, Dr Jacob Luiram delivered an insightful lecture on the social and cultural relation of Tangkhul and Meitei communities, highlighting historical linkages, mutual influences and shared heritage between two groups.

The talk programme was attended by lecturers and students of the college.
