Workshop, training programme conclude

A 3-day workshop on "Industrial Skill for Unemployed Youth of Manipur" successfully concluded today at GP Women's College, Imphal.
The workshop was organised by the GP Women's College in collaboration with Manipur Beekeepers' Federation under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Development, North Eastern Region NEC, Shillong.
The closing function was graced by dignitaries, including Prof L Rajen Singh, Principal, GP Women's College; Rojendrakar Nongthomba, Finance Officer, DM University; N Nando Singh, Coordinator, COC, Beekeeping, GP Women's College; and S Nilakomal, chairman, Manipur Beekeeping Federation.
As part of the function, certificates were distributed to the beekeepers and staff of GP Women's College who participated in the workshop.
Meanwhile, a three-day training programme on "Scientific Mushroom Production Technology" concluded yesterday at the College of Agriculture (CoA), Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The programme, running from January 7 to 9, 2026, was organised by MTTC & VTC, COA, Iroisemba under the sponsorship of Fodder and Livestock based intervention for livelihood improvement of NEH Farmers.
The valedictory function was graced by dignitaries, including Prof K Nandini, Dean, CoA; Prof L Nongdrenkhoba, HoD, Department of Plant Pathology; Prof Th Robindro Singh, Incharge, MTTC & VTC, CoA; and Dr R Joseph Koireng, Scientist, AICRP-Forage Crops.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof K Nandini spoke at length on the importance of mushroom cultivation and its wide-ranging benefits.
She emphasized how mushrooms serve not only as a highly nutritious food source rich in proteins, vitamins, and minerals, but also as a sustainable agricultural practice that requires minimal land and water.
Mushroom farming, she noted, can generate significant income opportunities for rural communities, empower women and small-scale farmers, and contribute to food security.
A total of 36 participants benefited from the training programme.
