RIMS Dental College wins 1st Prize in World Oral Health Day Contest 2026

The Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has won the First Prize in the World Oral Health Day 2026 Celebrations Contest organised by the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD).
The national competition saw participation from dental colleges, hospitals and clinics across the country.
As per a release issued by RIMS, this marked a steady rise for the department, which had secured the First Consolation Prize in 2024 and Second Prize in 2025 before clinching the top honour this year.
The achievement reflected its commitment to promoting child oral health through community-based initiatives and preventive care.
As part of the World Oral Health Day activities, the department conducted extensive school oral health programmes, teacher and ASHA worker training, awareness campaigns, preventive dental services, and community outreach to promote lifelong oral hygiene habits among children and the public.
Dr Wairokpam Bhoomika Devi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, credited the success to the teamwork of faculty, students, interns and staff.
She also acknowledged the guidance of Prof G Sunilkumar Sharma, Director RIMS, Prof Nepram Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, and Prof B Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS.
The award highlighted RIMS' leadership in paediatric and preventive dentistry and reinforced its focus on education, research, patient care and community service.
