Imphal, March 09 2026: The Committee of Social Moral & Innovative Culture (COSMIC) hosted its inaugural get-together, coinciding with International Women's Day, at Koirou Nepram Leirak, Thongju Part-II on Sunday.

The event featured prominent speakers discussing women's roles, challenges, and empowerment.

At the event, social activist Moirangthem Joy Meitei highlighted Manipuri women's historical power, citing the 1939 Nupilal movement.

Dr N Ahanjao Meitei, Assistant Professor, Manipuri Department, Manipur University, spoke on Meitei mythology and women's empowerment; while Dr N Tete Devi, Lecturer, MECI Explorer Academy, elaborated on "Free and Compulsory education of children"; and K Sangita Devi explained the importance of health, hygiene, and cleanliness as preventive care.

K Kishan, Advocate, Manipur High Court, provided awareness on legal procedures for married women facing family problems.

COSMIC's president, N Sharatchandra Singh, emphasized the health risks of liquor and tobacco consumption.

Th Memtonbi, ex-Zilla Parishad Member; N Harilal Singh, Manger, MSPDCL; N Motital, Assistant Manager, MSPDCL; N Nobin Singh, retired Assistant Engineer, PHED; A Jason Sharma, N Tombi Meitei and Th Robindro Singh also spoke on the occasion.

The gathering provided a platform for comprehensive discussions on social, health, and legal issues affecting women and the community.
