Bishnupur, October 07 2026: A State-level open debating competition was held on Tuesday at Thambal Marik College, Oinam organised by the students' union of the college.

21 students from different educational institutions participated in the debating competition which was held on the theme 'Stability and prosperity in Manipur will be achieved only when there is the governance of a strong local/state political party', said a press release by the college.

Oinam AC MLA I Nalini Devi; Principal of Thambal Marik College, Professor M Bhubaneshwari Devi; Viceprincipal Sh Tomba Singh and RK Nimai, IAS (retired) graced as the presidium members of the occasion.

M Sanathoi Chanu of Imphal College of opposition bench secured the first position while Gagarin Thoudam DM College of Science of treasury bench and A Sunandi of Manipur University of treasury bench secured the second and third position respectively.

S Kensia Chanu, Moirang College (treasury), N Helina, GP College (opposition) and Th Donaldo Singh.

DM College of Arts (opposition) received consolation prizes, added the release.
