PUCO marks 19th foundation day

The Progressive United Clubs Organisation (PUCO) celebrated its 19th Foundation Day on Tuesday by organising a village-level painting competition for students of the Khongjom Circle on the theme, "Save Environment, Climate Change".
The programme, held at Khongjom Keithel Community Hall, was attended by Democratic People's Front president and founderprincipal of IRE Groups of Institutions, Wangjing, Dr Narengbam Rajivkumar, All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) organisation secretary Laishram Krishnachandra, All Thoubal District United Clubs Organisation (ATDUCO) president Rajen Leishangthem, PUCO president Rajen Roshan Khuman, PUCO advisor Sapam Rameshwar Singh, Sapam GP chairperson Yumnam Landhoni Devi, Samaram GP chairperson Okram Indira Devi, Tekcham GP chairperson Langpoklakpam Kulladhaja Singh, Langathel GP chairperson Sagolshem Tomba Singh, social workers Langpoklakpam Samananda Singh and Kshetrimayum Priyobrata, and Khunnai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Thoubal president Ima Waikhom Maipak, among others.
As part of the celebration, a spot painting competition was conducted for students from schools under the Khongjom Circle.
Winners were presented cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their performances.
In Category I (Classes III to VII), Huiningshumbam Punshiba secured the first prize, followed by Arbina Chingtham in second place, while Chingtham Coolcool finished third.
In Category II (Classes VIII to XII), Sapam Most Singh won the first prize, while Malemnganbi Devi and Sagolshem Machontombi Devi secured the second and third positions respectively.
The organisation also honoured its founding members by presenting them with Lengyan as a mark of recognition for their contributions.
The programme concluded with a two-minute silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the ongoing ethnic violence that began on May 3, 2023 .
