Students stage protest against alleged ban on Base Academy in Khangabok

Thoubal, April 06 2026: Students of Base Academy, Khangabok Part-I, staged a sit-in protest today at Khangabok Part-I Community Hall opposing the alleged banning of their school by a proscribed outfit and incidents of intimidation.

Taking part in the demonstration, students of the school appealed to groups concerned not to target educational institutions.

"We want to study and pursue our dreams without fear and intimidation.

We are the future, and we want to learn freely without intimidation," said one of the protesting students.

Emphasising the importance of education, the students stated that it is the foundation of a progressive society and should not be disrupted under any circumstances.

They further pointed out that even during times of war, students are allowed to continue their education, and appealed for a peaceful academic environment.

Guardians who joined the protest also voiced deep concern over the possible impacts of the ban on the students' future.

Disruption in academic activities harms the students and the society at large, said one of the guardians, urging all concerned to resolve issues through dialogues and refrain from imposing the ban on the school.

"It is our collective responsibility to safeguard educational institutions, academic environments and ensure uninterrupted learning", the guardians said.

During the protest, students held placards bearing slogans such as "Do not intimidate our school", "Let education be a free zone", "We condemn banning of school", "Education is our right, Protection is our demand" and "United we stand for a fear free campus" .

The students raised their voices in unison for a "fear-free campus".

The protest concluded with a strong appeal to all groups concerned to allow students to continue their education peacefully without any form of disturbance.
