Thoubal, July 05 2026:
Youth leader Ananda Laishram on Sunday announced his candidature for the upcoming 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from 32-Wangkhem Assembly Constituency.
The announcement was made during a programme held at the BYFY Community Hall at Yairipok Bishnunaha.
Speaking on the occasion, Ananda Laishram said his decision to enter electoral politics stemmed from his long association with public and social causes, particularly his involvement in issues arising out of the ongoing ethnic violence in the State.
He said that despite actively participating in various public movements, submitting memorandum to the Governor and other concerned authorities, and joining collective efforts to seek lasting solutions to the crisis, no concrete outcome had been achieved.
He added that he had therefore decided to enter politics with the aim of serving the people more effectively and contributing towards resolving the challenges facing the State.
The programme was attended by retired Commandant Akoijam Ibomcha Meitei, BYFY adviser Kshetrimayum Jadumani, retired Lt Col Haorungbam Sharat Singh, social activist Mutum Shanti Devi, MUC faculty member Takhellambam Tomba and social activist Ch Nandalal Angomcha as presidium members.
