Imphal, June 05 2025: In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) jointly carried out a tree sapling plantation drive today in the surrounding areas of Cheiraoching martyrs' memorial site.

The glaring issues of deforestation and degradation of rivers have invited frequent floods in the State, said a press release issued by AMUCO, MSF and TUC .

It stated that Manipur has started witnessing repeated cycles of droughts and floods due to severe environmental changes.

In view of such pressing issues, the organisations urged people to resolve to safeguard the environment and focus their efforts on rejuvenating the forests where rivers originate, planting more trees and safeguarding the rivers.

AMUCO, MSF and TUC also appealed to the public to reduce their plastic consumption.

World Environment Day is being observed across the globe today under the theme "End Plastic Pollution" .
