Imphal, September 04, 2010: Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal district police commandos have arrested seven underground cadres belonging to different insurgent outfits. A team of Imphal East police commandos arrested one cadre of PREPAK identified as Haobam Jender @ Thoithoi (19), son of H Ibomcha of Sekta Mayai Leikai from teh same place around 9 am today.

He has disclosed that he had joined PREPAK in March this year through one Inao and had been involved in extortion of money from different sections of the people, a press release issued by SP Imphal East, Th Radheshyam informed.

Further, one cadre of PULF identified as Md Azad Khan @ Slauddin (18), son of Md Allauddin of Sangai Yumpham Part-I, Pullei Pokpi Maren Khun from Golapati Maning Leikai around 9.30 am today by Imphal East police commandos.

One demand letter addressed to Md Mujibur (Loha Malik) of New Checkon Hapta signed by S/S Finance Secretary Akhtar Javed of PULF was recovered from his possession.

He disclosed that he joined PULF in March this year through one S/S Finance Secretary Md Aboyai @ Akhtar Javed of Lilong Atoukhong.

In another operation, a combined team of IE police commandos and 28 AR arrested one KYKL (MDF) cadre identified as Elangbam Sanjit @ Abomcha Singh (38) of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai from Thambalkhong bridge south eastern side around 3.30 pm of September 2. On interrogation, he disclosed that he had joined the party under one Inao and presently working his command.

He was involved in extortion of money from various sections of the society and also in transportation of arms and ammunition from one place to another.

In yet another operation, Imphal East police commandos arrested two cadres of PREPAK identified as Moirangthem Ethem @ Manao Singh (27), son of M Manihar of Khurai Chairenthong and Soyam Lelen @ Dinesh Singh (40) of Kongpal Thongam Leikai from Lamlong bazar on September 2 around 3 pm.

The team also arrested one more cadre of PREPAK identified as Thangjam Bijoy @ Janka Singh (41) of Khurai Puthiba Leikai.

He is an active member of PREPAK and was involved in extortion of money from the general public, SP Radheshyam informed.

Meanwhile, Senior SP, Thoubal district, Clay Khongsai has informed that a combined team of CDOs Thoubal and 28 AR conducted search operation.

The Senior SP said around 6.30 pm the same day one cadre of PREPAK identified as Thokchom Chandramani @ DK @ Naoba @ Nanao (32), son of Th Pari Singh of Sekmaijin Maning Leikai.

One 9mm pistol with six live rounds were recovered from him.

He revealed that he is an active member of PREPAK and has been working in Finance Section of the outfit under the command of one Lukram Sishi of Sekmaijin Thongam Leikai, Senior SP Clay Khongsai stated.

On the other hand, troops of Red Shield Division arrested one cadre of Finance wing of KCP (MC) Lamyanba Khuman today.

A press release issued by PIB (DW) said that a mobile vehicle check post of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles during surprise check on National Highway 150 apprehended Haobijam Jeevan Singh (39), son of Late H Naoba Singh of Bishnupur District.

One Tata DI truck (MN 01 W 0623) and Rupees 1,820 were recovered from the possession of the individual.

The apprehended cadre along with the recoveries have been handed over to Bishnupur Police station, it added.

On the other hand, a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos, 26 AR and 28 AR personnel arrested one activist of KCP (MC) from north AOC near a hotel.

The arrested person identified as Aseibam Tomba @ Arju (24), son of A Poinaram of Andro Chambra discosed that he has been working under James Ahan @ Pabung of KCP(MC).

He further disclosed that he was assigned to recruit the cadres and also transportation of arms and ammunitions, Senior SP Imphal West informed.
