Kamjong observes International Day of Cooperatives with awareness programme

Kamjong, July 04 2026: The International Day of Cooperatives 2026 was observed in Kamjong district on Saturday with an awareness and motivation programme for Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS) at the Community Hall in Ramrei Village, Phungyar Block.

The programme, held under the global theme "Cooperatives for a Peaceful World," was organised by the District Cooperative Office (DCO), Kamjong and Imaram LAMPS Ltd in association with the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur, and the District Administration, Kamjong.

Addressing the gathering, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur, W Ibohal Singh said the growth and development of a village largely depend on the economic activities taking place within it.

He emphasised that cooperative societies play a vital role in strengthening rural economies and promoting sustainable development through collective participation and mutual support.

The programme was attended by District Cooperative Officer, Kamjong, L Chingkheinganba; President of Imaram LAMPS and Federation of LAMPS, N Shaiza; officials from various Government departments, church leaders, and members of different cooperative societies.
