Tamenglong DC inspects PMGSY works, schools

Tamenglong, March 04 2025: In a proactive move to ensure the quality of infrastructure and education in the district, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong, Dr Angshim L Dangshawa (IAS), led an inspection team to assess the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) works and various schools today.

The team included SubDeputy Collector (SDC), Savio Daimai, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), N Abonpou Christopher, Gainilung Gonmei, Assistant Engineer, DRDA and PA to DC, Eleazer Kaongam.

During the inspection of the 17 km stretch of the PMGSY road between Kahulong and Bamgaijang village, Dr Angshim expressed concern over the contractor's failure to adhere to quality standards.

He issued a stem warning to the subcontractor, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the required quality in road construction.

However, he commended the effective drainage system implemented along the road.

The team then proceeded to Bamgaijang Primary School, where Dr Angshim interacted with the teachers.

His visit revealed some irregularities in teacher attendance and performance, prompting him to summon all posted teachers for clarification.

He urged the teachers to recognize the potential of village students, encouraging them to believe that these young learners could achieve greatness in the future.

On their return journey, he also inspected Akhui Government High School and Kahulong Primary School.

He praised Akhui Government High School as one of the best at the village level and assured to construct a urinal facility for the school.

While inspecting Kahulong Primary School, it was found that many classes were being conducted by substitute teachers.

The DC directed all schools to strictly adhere to the guidelines for the MidDay meal scheme, ensuring that students receive proper nutrition.

As part of his commitment to enhancing the educational landscape in the district, Dr Angshim announced plans for surprise visits to the Government schools of the district in the near future.
