National cleanliness day observed all over

Imphal, October 02 2014 : Wangjing-Lamding Municipal Council Chairperson, Councillor, members and nominees jointly organised a social service campaign today in public areas under Wangjing-Lamjing Municipal Council.

The social service drive which was conducted as a part of the National Sanitation Campaign, was also participated by police personnel of Wangjing outpost, residents of Wangjing.

H Gouranggo, Wangjing-Lamding Municipal Council Chairperson expressed gratitude to all who participated in the social service today.

Yairipok Municipal Council led by local clubs, meira paibis and local residents also undertook a similar social service campaign at Yairipok today.

Meanwhile, Thoubal district administration also observed the National Cleanliness Day led by Deputy Commissioner Ksh Lemba Singh at Thoubal DC Office and other district level offices.

Thoubal DC office officers and staff led by Lemba also undertook a cleanliness pledge at Thoubal DC conference hall today.

A similar observation was held at the office of the District Information Officer, Thoubal.

The office also undertook the cleanliness pledge led by its DIO Ch Noyon Singh at the observation today.

Chandel district observed Cleanliness Day at its Headquarters today.

Social service camps were conducted at the mini secretariat DC complex, Japhou Bazar areas, Autonomous District Council office Monsang Pantha, Chandel Christian and District Hospital, Zonal Education office Chandel and at many other areas of the district as part of the cleanliness campaign.

MLA of Chandel A/C St Nunghlung Victor, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, special contracor HI Lovingson also took out an inspection drive at ADC Chandel complex, Monsang Pantha, District Sports complex, Chandel Christian and District Hospital, Chandel.

The MLA was dissappoin-ted with the quality of sand used in constructing the slab of a drainage system.

He asked the contractors to replace the slab with a new one.

The MLA during his visit to the district hospital expressed doubt about the completion of construction works before Christmas.

Later, in front of media persons the MLA informed contractors concerned to contact him or the DC to ensure timely completion of the construction works with due emphasis on their qualitative aspects.

Various departments led by the MLA and the Chandel DC also undertook the cleanliness pledge under "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Swachh Karyalay Abhiyan" .

At Ukhrul town, students, civilians, employees, conducted a cleanliness drive at the town area under Swachh Bharat and in commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti.

DIG 10 sector AR Peeyush Pandey and Commandant 41 AR Gaurav Bose along with paramilitary personnel joined the cleanliness drive.

On the other hand, in keeping with the Prime Minister's call for a Swachch Bharat Karyakram (Clean India Programme), a cleanliness drive was conducted at all army establishments and formations from September 25 to October 2 across the country.

All officers, JCOs, other ranks of the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army), gathered today at the lawns of the Sena Bhawan for an oath taking ceremony in commemoration of the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Ministry of Defence started the ambitious drive with the Swachhta Pledge administered by the Secretary (Defence Production) G Mohan Kumar to all officers and staff of the Ministry at South Block.

The event saw the spontaneous participation of officers right from the Secretary level to multi-tasking staff of the Ministry.

A Shapath Samaroh or an oath taking ceremony was organised in Manekshaw Auditorium today at 9.30 am in Rangapahar Military Station.

General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps attended the function .

All ranks and families of Red Shield Division pledged towards contributing towards a "Swachh Bharat".

The ceremony was attended by Maj Gen PM Bali, GOC Red Shield Division, officers, troops and families of the Division.

Joining the Nation-wide campaign, a clean-up programme was also held at Changangei Gram Panchayat area under Imphal West-I Block as a part of the campaign.

A week long cleaning programme which started on September 25 under 'Swachh Panchayat Saptah' has concluded today.

The programme was jointly organised by the Gram Panchayat Pradhan Laishram (O) Roma Leima, ward members, youth club and local meira paibi representatives.

On the other hand, a cleanliness drive was carried out at the premises of MSRTC in Moirangkhom under the leadership of Deputy Chief Engineer, Northeast Frontier Railway Yogesh Verma, staff, police personnel and CRPF personnel.

The participants also took a cleanliness oath.

The Lamjaotongba Gram Panchayat Pradhan RK Gunisana Devi, members of the Gram Panchayat, meira paibi representatives also organised a week long cleanliness drive at ward No 11 area under Swachh Panchayat Saptah from September 29 which concluded today.

Volunteers of BJP Nung-ba under BJP Nungba Man-dal, Noney Circle Committee also organised a cleanliness drive at Noney (Longmai) area.

An oath taking ceremony for district level officers of Bishnupur district was held at Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen Bishnupur district headquarters as a part of the National Sanitation Campaign or the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The ceremony was jointly organised by SEHCDO Bishnupur and PHED office Bishnupur.

Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur Jason A Shimray, Up-Adhyaksha Bishnupur district A Brojen, Superintendent of Police Bishnupur district N Herojit, Executive Officer PHED Office Bishnupur O Meino and member secretary of District Water and Sanitation Committee Bishnupur, Chairperson Bishnupur Municipal Council L Lolindro graced the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

A similar cleanliness drive was also carried out at Leikot UJB School, Kangpokpi by teaching staff and students of the school.

The Swachh Bharat Campaign was also taken to many rural areas of the State by NABARD regional office today.
