Governor discusses crisis, culture

Representatives of Youth's Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) led by its secretary T Shadishkanta called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum demanding actionable steps for resettlement of the displaced people of the violence.
In its memorandum, the Forum urged for resettlement and rehabilitation of the displaced people with proper protection by the state in Jiribam, Moreh, Churachandpur, ensure full protection of paddy cultivation for the farmers in the paddy land in the buffer zones, investigation for polluting water sources and other issues related to the violence that broke out in May last year.
The Governor assured the representatives that necessary steps will be taken up to ensure the resettlement of displaced individuals currently in relief camps.
She also assured to address the ongoing crisis in the state and a comprehensive investigation into the issues raised by the Forum.
The Governor also met Pukhrambam Bilash at Raj Bhavan and congratulated him on his new appointment as director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA).
During their meeting, the Governor discussed numerous initiatives aimed at promoting and elevating the rich heritage of dance and culture in the state.
Bilash, a versatile and accomplished artiste, has received extensive training in various forms of dance from JNMDA, Imphal.
He had been honoured with Manipur State Kala Akademi Young Talent Award.
The Governor expressed her confidence in Bilash's ability to contribute significantly, to the Academy and the cultural landscape of the state.
