Lions Club holds 'Pick One, Plant One' drive

Imphal, May 02 2026: The Lions Club of Imphal conducted a tree plantation and seedling distribution drive today at Global Scholars Academy, Yumnam Khunou, under its "One Multiple One Activity" environmentproject.

Club members planted saplings on the school campus and distributed 50 seedlings to students and teachers under the "Pick One, Plant One" theme.

Club Environment Projects chairperson Dr L Ibetombi said students and teachers could take seedlings of their choice to plant at home or elsewhere.

The club also held an on-the-spot painting competition on "Trees are our Best Friends" for Classes 1 to 7 .

About 40 students took part in two categories: Classes 1-5 and Classes 6-7 .

Winners received cash prizes and a seedling each.

Club secretary W Inaobi Singh gave a short meditation demonstration for students.

The club also donated comic books on lives of great personalities to the school library.

Club president Manas Maisnam said comics help build reading habits, vocabulary, and visualization.

Past district governor H Manikumar Singh, region chairperson Y Manglem Singh, and other members of the club attended the event.
