Ukhrul, October 01 2024:
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Ukhrul has drawn the attention of Chief Minister N Biren Singh to expedite the implementation of developmental works promised to the people of Ukhrul during his maiden visit to the district in October, 2023 .
According to a statement issued by TNL vice president RS Jollyson, Tangkhul CSOs have taken note of the unfulfilled assurances of the Chief Minister to establish Food Technology College in Ukhrul under CAU.
The CSOs have also reiterated the long-felt need-based demand for execution of Kongva River Project - a visionary multi purpose project with external aid.
DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) are already pending with the finance department, said the statement.
TNL has urged the CM to execute the project and other essentials such as all weather four lane roads, all weather water supply and all weather power supply.
According to TNL, MLA Ram Muivah along with his entourage visited the office of the president TNL on September 26, 2024 and in the interactive session it came to light that the ongoing construction of Ukhrul Incubation Center at Wino Bazar funded by the NEC "at the cost of Rs 13.50 crores in 2018 is already through with the civil works (80%) of the entire cost" .
However, the building remains unutilised for the reason that the entire electrical works and furnishings have not yet been done.
The Tangkhul CSOs have urged upon the concerned authorities to complete the remaining works swiftly.
The building should become fully functional within a period of 3 months, failing which the authority concerned would be held for contempt of people's rights and interests, it added.
