ADC Chandel Chairman and associates further remanded to police custody

Imphal, June 30 2018: Lhukhosei Zou, Chairman of Autonomous District Council (ADC) Chandel and his associates who were arrested in connection with the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, were produced before Special Court ND & PS Manipur and remanded to further 5 days in police custody till July 3.The Court also fixed the hearing of the bail application filed by the counsel of the accused individuals on July 3.ADC Chandel Chairman Lhukhosei Zou alias Shesei Zou (51) s/o Thangmang Zou of Moreh Ward number 2 (presently staying at Lamphel quarter), M Lawrence Zou (50) s/o Lungin Zou of Lamlongei Mantripukri, Jamkhohao (28) s/o Jamthong of Moreh ward number 1, Home Guard Vpng, Moreh, Minlal Mate (22) s/o Jamthang Mate of Moreh Ward number 3, Phaichem Veng, Moreh, Thangminlun Zou (30) s/o Chinsuanlam Zou of Lunmual village, Singhat sub division, Churachandpur, Teresa alias Nengboi Ngaite (54) w/o Langlenkhup Ngaite and Ester Vungheinuam alias Esther (22) w/o Paopu Ngaite, both from Moreh ward number 1, near Gangam Grace (presently staying at Mantripukri Vaiphei Veng) were produced before the Court while one of the accused Mung Zou alias Aric (19) s/o Ginsamum of Moreh ward number 3, Gamnim Veng (presently staying at Mantripukri Vaiphei Veng) was not produced before the Court as he is kept in the custody of Narcotic and Affairs of Border (NAB) on health grounds.

The 10 of the case prayed before the Court for 5 days further police custody remand of the accused for smooth investigation of the case.

The 10 submitted before the Court that as the accused in the case is 8 in number, the investigation of the case is not completed and prayed for few more days for smooth investigation of the case.

On the other, counsels of the accused individuals filed remand objection along with bail application prayer.

The Court heard the APP of the State and the counsels of accused individuals and satisfied with the prayer of the IO, remanded the accused individuals to five days further police custody remand till July 3 .

The Court also fixed the hearing of the remand objection and bail application prayer filed by the defense counsels on July 3 as well.

A large numbers of supporters and the family members of Lhukhosei Zou were seen gathered at Lamphel Court from early morning on getting information that he along with other associates would be produced before the Court.

Looking after the situation and to prevent any kind of unwanted incident, a team of Lamphel police, including women police personnel and a team of Imphal West commando were deployed.
