Imphal, July 29 2024: The World Meetei Council (WMC) has urged State legislators to discuss the inclusion of Meetei/Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribes list at the upcoming monsoon session of Assembly slated to commence from July 31 .

In continuation of their ST demand campaign, WMC raised many slogans today putting forward their demands at the final match of the 1 st State Level Junior Boys' Volleyball Tournament, 2024 sponsored by the All Manipur Volleyball Association at Wangjing Khunou, Kakching district.

The slogans include "We want inclusion in Scheduled Tribes list", "Government should send the necessary socio-economic and ethnographic reports to the Centre", "Meeteis should be given ST status before 2026 delimitation exercise" and "Save our future".

Ahongshangbam Dhiren Singh, member, CEC-WMC presided over the match.
