World Zoonoses Day observed

World Zoonoses Day was observed at Community Hall, Nungoi Awang Leikai, Imphal East district on Monday.
The event was jointly organised by Modhu & Sanahanbi Memorial Trust Pourabi, Village Development Committee Nungoi Awang Leikai and District Surveillance Officer Imphal East under the aegis of Chief Medical Officer Imphal East.
It was graced by Manipur Handloom Handicrafts Development Corporation & Lamlai AC MLA, Kh Ibomcha; State Surveillance Officer, Government of Manipur, Dr Sanasam Gopal Singh; CMO Imphal East, Dr L Indira Devi and Sawombung Gram Panchayat, Administrative Committee, Chairperson, N Dhaneshwar Singh as presidium members.
Dr T Napolean, District Malaria Officer Imphal East; Dr N Romila Devi, Senior Specialist; Th Prabhapati Devi, District Program Manager Imphal East; students, ASHA workers and members of Village Level Federations also attended the event.
Notably, World Zoonoses Day is celebrated every year on July 6 in honour of Louis Pasteur, who administered the first successful rabies vaccine, a zoonotic disease, on July 6, 1885 .
The day is dedicated to raising awareness about zoonoses- diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans, and promoting preventive & control measures.
