Development rooted in people's aspirations more meaningful: RK Imo

Imphal, August 27 2026:
A long-cherished aspiration of the people of Panjikhanbam Kollup, Wahengbam Yumjao Lairembi Awang, Wahengbam Leikai has taken shape with the completion of retaining wall and beautification works of Panjikhanbam Kollup Pukhri, Luwang Apokpa Laishang of Uraobam Sagei and a portion of cemented road.
The project was formally inaugurated by Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh in the presence of Corporators, local elders, community representatives and residents.
The project was taken up following discussions and suggestions from the people of the locality.
The newly developed retaining wall, beautified pond and Laishang have significantly enhanced the surroundings.
The evening inauguration also offered residents an opportunity to witness the newly installed lighting which illuminates the pond and its surroundings.
A special feature was floral tribute to the ancestors of Panjikhanbam Kollup, honouring forefathers who preserved the heritage and identity of the locality.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Imo Singh expressed happiness at seeing the collective vision materialise.
He said development works become more meaningful when they originate from the needs and aspirations of the people and are carried forward through community participation.
He said development work in Wahengbam Leikai will continue, with improvement of interior roads to be taken up soon.
It may be noted that a few months ago, the newly constructed Community Hall and Wahengbam Leikai Junior High School along with a public library space were handed over to the people.
During his earlier term, Land Allotment Order and Patta for Wahengbam Yumjao Lairembi were handed over along with a double-storey recreation hall.
