Woman found hung to death

Thoubal, December 26 2018: A pregnant woman was found hung to death at Haokha Mamang Leikai, under Thoubal PS yesterday.

The deceased woman has been identified as Joy Premi alias Naocha w/o Binison Yumnam (28).Following the incident, irate womenfolk of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Tomjin-makhong (the residence of the deceased) attempted to storm Thoubal PS demanding immediate arrest of the culprit (s) involved in the suspicious death of the woman.

According to the mother of the deceased, Sorojini Khumanthem, Naocha allegedly called repeatedly yesterday claiming that she was being tortured by her in-laws and pleaded to come and save her.

She continued that at around 4 pm, Naocha's father-in-law came and told the family that Naocha was rushed to Thoubal District Hospital after she allegedly lost consciousness.

However, when the family members rushed to the hospital, Naocha was found dead, Sorojini claimed adding that the allegation that Naocha had hung herself is false.

She then appealed to the authority concerned to arrest and punish all the people involved in the suspicious death of her daughter according to the law.

On the other hand, secretary of Nupi Chaokhatpa Khongthang Lup Thoubal, Shantibala Khumanthem said that they will not accept the claim that Naocha hung herself.

She continued that the hospital record has not been shown to the family members of the deceased till date and added that it is uncertain whether Naocha was brought dead or died at the hospital.

As such, she also appealed to the authority concerned to investigate the matter and bring justice at the earliest.
