NE Indigenous Games & Cultural Meet concludes

Imphal, February 26 2026:
The inaugural North East Indigenous Games and Cultural Meet, 2026, wrapped up in Imphal yesterday, marking the end of a three-day extravaganza that kicked off on February 23 .
The meet, a collaborative effort by the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), and Yelhou Masanna Yokkhat Kanglup (YMYK), showcased the region's rich cultural heritage.
The opening ceremony took place at Tiddim Ground in Kwakeithel, while the closing ceremony was held at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Dignitaries and respected individuals from the region graced the dais at both the inaugural and concluding functions.
Participants from various North Eastern States, including Assam, Nagaland, and Tripura, showcased their respective indigenous games and cultural items.
Manipur's own indigenous communities also presented their traditional dances and songs, highlighting the diverse cultural heritage of the region.
Key Manipuri indigenous sports featured in the meet included Mukna, Kang, Cheibi, Arambai, and Sagol Kangjei.
A specific Kang competition was also organised in the Jiribam District as part of the event.
In a release, AMUCO, MSF and YMYK extended their sincere gratitude to all individuals and departments, including finance, water supply, sound systems, media, Fire Brigade, hotel accommodation, and stage arrangements- who contributed to the smooth and successful conduct of the games.
The organisations also thanked the public for their support and expressed hope for continued cooperation in future events.
