Imphal, September 25 2025: A dwelling house belonging to one Chingakham Joykumar was reduced to ashes by an inferno at Heingang Mayai Leikai, Imphal East this evening.

Even though fire tenders came to the spot and contained the inferno, they could not save the house.

According to Chingakham Joykumar, his daughter-in-law was cooking food on an LPG stove this evening when the LPG cylinder burst suddenly at around 6.40 pm.

Soon after the explosion, the hose connecting the LPG cylinder to the stove was seen burning throughout its length.

Joykumar said.

Within moments, the fire spread upward and the ceiling/upper portion of the house caught fire.

In the next moment, the inferno consumed all the articles of the house, he said.

Saying that everything that was inside the house have been completely destroyed by the inferno, Joykumar said that several documents, cash and gold jewellery have been reduced to ashes.
