Imphal, April 25 2026:
A remark made by a woman identified as Thingbaijam Debala from Kshetrigao, Imphal East while briefing the media persons after meeting the Chief Minister today in the wake of COCOMI led agitation is not related to the meeting, the Government has clarified.
The women had asserted that the State has no power and the power to control the situation lies in the hands of the Centre.
Her short briefing to the media persons appeared in several newspapers as news items are in no case related to the Chief Minister's meeting with the representatives of agitators from various areas of Imphal.
Her remarks are a clear cut "misrepresentation" of the facts stated by the Chief Minister during the conversation with the Meira Paibis, said the Government.
"The motive of the woman seems to sabotage the Government's effort to establish law and order and peace initiatives in the State.
Media houses are requested to uphold the highest standard of journalistic ethos and any news items must be duly verified and thoroughly cross-checked prior to publication," it said.
