National Voters' Day celebrated

As observed across the country, 15 th National Voters' Day was celebrated today at the DC Office, Porompat under the theme, "Nothing like Voting, I vote for sure".
The celebration organised by District Election Officer, Imphal East District was graced by dignitaries, including DC Imphal East, Khumanthem Diana Devi; Additional District Election Officer/ADM-II, Imphal East, Dr N Johnson Meetei; ADM-I, RK Dayananda; SDO Porompat, Sapam Jotin; SDO Keirao Bitra, Chaitanya; SDO Sawombung, Khwairakpam Lenin; Imphal East, Assistant Commissioner, Laimayum Rita Devi and BDO Kshetrigao, Karam Uma.
Felicitation of polling personnel teams and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and distribution of EPIC cards to newly enrolled voters were the main highlights of the event.
The participants also took the National Voters' Day pledge.
At the event, the dignitaries shared that National Voters' Day is celebrated every year on January 25 to spread awareness about the importance of voting and encourage voters to participate in the electoral process of one of the world's largest democracies.
They also asserted that the day has been celebrated since 2011 across the country to mark the foundation of the Election Commission of India (ECI) i.e, January 25, 1950 .
Oriental College
College Electoral Literacy Club in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Oriental College (Autonomous), Imphal also observed National Voters' Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and commitment to fostering electoral awareness among students and staff.
Organised on the theme "Nothing like voting, I vote for sure", the celebration aimed to inspire responsible voting practices and educate participants on the significance of electoral participation in strengthening democracy.
The event, held in the College Conference Hall, featured an engaging program to sensitize students about the importance of National Voters' Day, the nation's electoral processes, and the obligations of citizens in a democracy.
The event was inaugurated by the Principal, who highlighted the critical role of educated youth in shaping the nation's future through informed and ethical voting.
Assistant Professor Kongkham Biplob Singha, IQAC Coordinator and Nodal Officer of the College Electoral Literacy Club addressed the event emphasizing the transformative power of each vote and encouraged students to actively participate in the democratic process.
M Janeshwari Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, also delivered a lecture on the topic, "Significance of National Voters' Day".
All the participants also took the Voters' Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to exercising their voting rights responsibly and upholding the democratic values of the nation.
Adding a competitive edge to the celebration, a Quiz Competition on "Voting, Elections, and Electoral Awareness" was also organised for students.
