Many mourn demise of Heikrujam Ibotombi

Condolences poured in from different quarters mourning the unfortunate demise of Heikrujam Ibotombi Khuman, former consultative member of United Committee Manipur (UCM) .
Heikrujam Ibotombi died on November 19, 2024 at RIMS, Imphal due to an illness.
Late Heikrujam Ibotombi was a visionary leader who played key roles in many public movements and made significant contributions towards the welfare of the people.
He was the founder member of International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA), consultative member of UCM, convenor of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), chairman of Justice Committee Anglo Manipur War 1891 and president of Naharol Yaipha Lamjingkol, Haobam Marak Irom Leikai.
In his honour, a solemn event was held at the office of UCM on November 19 evening.
During the event, members of the Central Committee, Steering Committee, component organisations, consultative members and family & friends offered floral tributes and observed two minutes of silence to pay respect to the late leader.
The gathering also shared the grief of the bereaved family.
Similarly, a condolence meeting was also held at the office of Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) on November 21 to mourn the sudden demise of Heikrujam Ibotombi Khuman.
The meeting was attended by representatives of 19 organisations namely Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL), All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), All Manipur Tammi Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup (Tammi Chingmi), Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup (NLANL), Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL), Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL) Bishnupur, Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup (MACHA LEIMA), Ereipak Enaat Chanura Loinasinlon (EECHAL), Extra-judicial Execution Victim Families Association (EEVFAM), Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagat Lup (KNKSSL), Khwairamband Phouoibi Ima Keithel Women's Vendors Welfare Association, Paona Keithel Women's Welfare Organisation, United Peoples' Front (UPF), National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO), Manipur Peace and Integrity Council (MAPI Council), CADA, All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU).
The meeting remembered the numerous contributions made by Heikrujam Ibotombi and shared the grief & pain of the bereaved families.
The gathering also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Moreover, the Joint Committee On Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has expressed deep condolences over the untimely demise of its former convenor H Ibotombi Khuman and stated that his death has left a huge vacuum which would be difficult to fill by anyone.
The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak and its associated organisations namely UNACSU, AMYPCO, KaPFA, UCSCK, KWWA, CHITUWA, WWOK, NYLAK, KaKIL and SUK, have condoled the untimely demise of H Ibotombi Khuman and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) and Kom Tribe Organisation Valley (KTOV) have also expressed profound sorrow and condolence on the sudden demise of H Ibotombi Khuman.
SEACO and KTOV shared the grief & pain of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
AR pays tribute to bravehearts
IMPHAL, Nov 22: The Assam Rifles organised a solemn wreath-laying ceremony yesterday to honor Rifleman RP Dwivedi, who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the Nation.
Rifleman RP Dwivedi laid down his life during "Operation Hifazat" in Sehlon, Manipur, on November 17, 2015.According to a release issued by PRO HQ IGAR(South), during a long-range patrol, Rfh RP Dwivedi displayed extraordinary courage in a fierce firefight with militants.
Despite sustaining critical injuries, he continued to deliver intense and effective fire, ensuring the safety of his comrades.
His determination and selfless devotion to duty epitomized the spirit of service to the Nation.
The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by over 50 personnel, including officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, and Other Ranks, who paid heartfelt tributes at the War Memorial.
Moreover, Assam Rifles also organised a wreath-laying ceremony in Moreh, Tengnoupal District, to commemorate the sacrifice of Rifleman (Late) Man Singh Bisht.
The event marked his ultimate sacrifice during the IndoChina War on November 19, 1962, at Tawang (NEFA), now Arunachal Pradesh.
The event reflected the unwavering spirit and traditions of the elite Assam Rifles, embodying the ethos of "Nation Before Self.
The ceremony commenced with wreath-laying followed by a motivational address recounting the valiant story of Rifleman Bisht.
Over 200 personnel of Assam Rifles participated in paying their respects and laying wreaths while according a Guard of Honor to the fallen hero.
