Imphal, June 22 2025: As observed across the globe, the Rhythms of Manipur celebrated World Music Day at the Golden Jubilee Stage of Manipuri Jagoi Marup yesterday.

World Music Day, celebrated every year on June 21, is a global tribute to the universal language of music and its power to unite people across cultures and backgrounds.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, eminent critic Budha Chingtham said that music plays a significant role in the society, it has the remarkable ability to transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, thereby uniting individuals from various comers of the globe.

"Music is a powerful and effective medium, capable of eliciting strong emotional responses and influencing mood and behavior", said Budha while adding that music has consistently played a significant role in mass movements throughout history.

Moreover, the Academy of Indigenous Music also celebrated World Music Day at its premises in Bamonkampu yesterday.
