Imphal, May 22 2025:
Sky Hospital and Research Centre successfully conducted a device closure of a heart-hole on a 2 years 10 months old baby girl.
As per a release issued by Sky Hospital, the child from Thoubal District, with a heart-hole called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) was brought to SKY Hospital in April, 2025 requesting for device closure.
It was really a difficult case because the delivery system could not be passed through the heart hole initially.
The obstacle was overcome with different techniques.
The delivery was manipulated through the heart hole and the Device was therefore implanted across the PDA thereby closing the hole completely.
The parents were very happy to know the successful device closure of PDA which could not be closed in the other hospital.
They asserted that they should have come to Sky Hospital, Imphal in the first place and appealed to the people of Manipur to go to Sky Hospital for any heart problem before thinking of going outside Manipur.
Dr Shyamkishore Lairikyengbam, FRCP (London), Chief Cardiologist of SKY Hospital expressed his happiness on the successfully conducted Device closure of PDA at SKY Hospital bringing a new life of the child.
He appealed to the people of Manipur and North Eastern States of India to avail such opportunity at their doorstep/close to home at affordable price or cashless under various Governments' Health schemes.
