Inunganbi Dance Academy marks 21st foundation day with Children's Dance Festival in Jiribam

Inunganbi Manipuri Dance Academy, Jiribam celebrated its 21st foundation day, marking over two decades of its establishment with the 18th Childrens' Traditional Dance Festival held in connection with the 26th death anniversary of Late Chandam Inunganbi.
The event was attended by Jiribam Higher Secondary School retired principal S Maniton Singh as chief guest; and JIMET Jiribam, Lifetime president Dr Chandam Kamal Singh as functional president.
During the event, the dignitaries were felicitated with Lengyan Phee (traditional shawls).
The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and the president, followed by the release of a souvenir commemorating the academy's 21 years of existence.
As part of the programme, girl students of the academy showcased their talents by performing various traditional and classical dance forms including Maibi Jagoi, Mao Jagoi, Krishna Avisar, Krishna Bandana, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, administrator of the academy, Chandam Biren Singh, stated that the festival aims to encourage young and upcoming artists, serve as a platform for talent identification, and help students overcome stage fear while nurturing a deep interest in traditional dance forms.
He further pointed out that the academy has been organising such programmes without any government assistance.
Urging support form both the government and the public, he appealed for necessary aid to sustain the institution, which he described as the only dance academy in the district imparting training in both folk and classical dance forms to young artists.
