Mass awareness campaign on Poshan Maah, Swachhata Hi Seva, BBBP, EVP, 7th Economic Census and Ayushman Bharat Patkhwada held

Thoubal, September 21 2019: A mass awareness campaign organized by District Administration Thoubal on 'Poshan Maah', 'Swachhata Hi Seva', 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)', 'Electors Verification Programme (EVP)', '7th Economic Census' and 'Ayushman Bharat Patkhwada' was held at Wangjing Sports Complex in Thoubal district today.

As part of the awareness campaign, a 'Cross Country Race' for girls under-17 and women above-17 carrying the message of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)' was flagged off from the office gate of Thoubal Municipal Council by MLA Wangjing Tentha AC Paonam Brojen and culminated at Wangjing Sports Complex.

The main event of the mass awareness campaign held at Wangjing Sports Complex was attended by MLA Wangjing Tentha AC Paonam Brojen; DC Thoubal N Bandana; Adhakshya Thoubal ZP Hasina Begum and SP Thoubal Dr S Ibomcha as presidium members.

Winners of the quiz, slogan and painting competition organized by various departments of the district in connection with the campaign were also honoured with prizes during the awareness programme.

Staff of District Health Society (DHS), Education, PHED and Councillors, members of Municipal Councils were also present in the programme.

Speaking at the occasion, N Bandana DC Thoubal urged the public to give true information to the officials visiting to collect data for economic census while seeking support from the public to stop single use plastic permanently.

She informed the public that NHIDCL has requested for permission to collect single use plastics such as plastic water bottle, polythene bag from the public to be used as construction materials on blacktopping a stretch of 10 km along NH-102 .

She, therefore, appealed to all the people of Thoubal district to give away their plastics items to NHIDCL garbage collectors that will go a long way in reducing all kinds of pollution caused by single use plastic.
