Imphal, February 20 2025: The Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has extended greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, which falls on February 21, 2025 .

The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is observing the day under the theme "Make languages count for sustainable development" .

A press release issued by A Anand, secretary general, HERICOUN advocated for the use of Meiteilon in various subjects from school level to the level of higher education and beyond.

On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, HERICOUN has urged the indigenous people to make a firm resolution to work towards safeguarding and promoting their mother tongue Meiteilon.
