Imphal, December 19 2008: CHIEF MINISTER O Ibobi has called a meeting of the top brasses of the security forces deploying in the state at his office chamber to discuss on the security arrangement for the national highways in the state.

A highly reliable source said the meeting which would be held under the chair of the chief minister aims at chalking out a strategy for the protection of highway travelers on the highways specially on the Imphal-Mao section of the NH-39 which normal plying of vehicles have been disturbing frequently.

The meeting will be attended by top brasses of the CRPF, Assam Rifles, Army, BSF apart from top officials of the state home and police departments like the principal secretary home, DGP and his under rank officers, the source said.

Mention may be made the highway traffics in Manipur have been disturbing greatly following kidnapping of truckers by armed militants for ransom and extortion demands form the vehicle proprietors and goods owners and frequent blockades by civil organizations.

Currently, traffic on Imphal-Moa section have been disturbing by the imposition of twin strike by two civil organizations, NPO and JAC against the Killing of M Rajen, Sekmai.
