Imphal, September 18 2026: Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) observed its 20th Foundation Day at Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong, Konung Mamang on Friday.

The observance was attended by JFD finance secretary and NIPCO advisor Sunil Karam, AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi and CADA president Hijam Priyokumar as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, CADA general secretary Geetchandra said it is unfortunate that the Government's War on Drugs campaign has completely stopped.

Poppy cultivation in hills and drug trafficking are increasing and need joint fight by CSOs and Government, said Geetchandra while demanding the Government to clarify the status of War on Drugs.

He said the Government decided to legalise liquor on December 4, 2023 claiming revenue and employment generation.

However, liquor is now sold everywhere, with over 90 percent unlicensed.

CADA had filed RTI, only 12 places have valid licences, he said.

He demanded the Government publish White Paper on revenue generated, employment created, health hazards and benefits since prohibition was lifted and liquor legalised.

Sunil Karam called for a united movement for NRC with 1951 as the base year.
