Imphal, August 18 2024: A three day "Thang-Ta Festival" organised by Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal began today at the auditorium of Rup Mahal Theatre, BT Road, Imphal.

The inaugural function was graced by Art & Culture Commissioner, M Joy Singh and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, K Sanathoiba Sharma as presidium members.

On the first day, Huiyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Irilbung and Pakhangba Huiyen Lallong Sindamsang, Mayai Koibi, enthralled the crowd with their performance of Thang-Ta.

At the event, M Joy Singh stressed on the need for collective effort to promote & preserve the culture and traditional arts forms of Manipur.

Appreciating the introduction of Thang-Ta subject in some schools, he said that Thang-Ta classes will not only keep the students healthy but will also help them in developing discipline.
