MU hosts lecture programme on Viksit Bharat

A thought provoking public lecture on "Social Transformation and Viksit Bharat" was organised in the Court Hall of the Manipur University, Canchipur today.
The 'public lecture series', was attended by Professor N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor MU, J Nandakumar, National convenor Prajna Pravah and Professor Krishnan Baskar, Director HIT Manipur.
Author and poet, J Nandakumar, in his speech, elaborated on the pillars of a Viksit Bharat (developed India), stressing the need for economic, political, cultural and social freedom.
He called for a reawakening, emphasising the importance of India focusing on indigenous development rather than aping western models and emphasised the valiant struggle of Manipur's heroes like Rani Gaidinliu, Bir Tikendrajit and many others who fiercely resisted British imperialism.
Nandakumar said Manipur was among the last States to come under British rule and first to be liberated.
Advocating for a self-reliant India, J Nandakumar also stressed the need for India to enhance development in crucial sectors such as defence, technology, health and governance.
MU Vice Chancellor, Prof N Lokendra urged the students and academics have gathered to critically examine the concept of Viksit Bharat.
