CRPF observes 22nd martyrdom anniversary of Sapam Sanjit Singh

Imphal, February 17 2026:
The 143 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday organised a solemn tribute programme to mark the 22nd martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed CT/GD Sapam Sanjit Singh, honouring his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Sapam Sanjit Singh attained martyrdom during an anti-insurgency operation launched by the 44 Battalion of CRPF on February 17, 2004, at Moirang Khunou under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district.
As security forces advanced towards their target, the insurgents ambushed the troops and opened indiscriminate fire on them.
In the ensuing encounter, the brave soldier sustained grievous injuries and laid down his life.
To commemorate the occasion, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at Eureka High School, Sapam Zone-HI, Thoubal district.
Vinod Kumar, Asst Comdt of 143 Bn CRPF accompanied by jawans paid floral tributes and homage to the martyr in the presence of martyr's father, C Chaoba Singh, mother Sapam Ongbi Ahanbi Devi, and other family members.
Dr L Priya Nandini Devi, Headmistress of the school, teachers, students, local villagers and other eminent figures of the locality were also present to pay homage.
As part of the observance, the parents of the martyrs also distributed prizes to class-wise toppers of the school who excelled in the academic session 2025 -26 .
Vinod Kumar, Asst Comdt also expressed gratitude to the martyr's family on behalf of the Force and assured them of the CRPF's continued support and commitment to the welfare of the martyr's family.
