Imphal, December 14 2025: The Enat Yokhatpa Luptin (EYOL), Manipur organised a public meeting at Apapti Paona Mongpham Ground today as part of its ongoing 'Mass Public Campaign' to address the growing incorporation of extravagant and non-traditional practices in religious and cultural ceremonies, particularly weddings.

The meeting was organised in association with Apapti Maning Leikai Youth Development Association, Arapti Maning Leikai Paona Mongpham Meira Paibi Lup, Lainingthou Sanamahi Thougal Lup Masa Loishang Arapti and AT Unit-28.As per a release issued by EYOL, the meeting deliberated on modem additions such as lavish tent setups and decorations, cake cutting, exchanging of rings and excessive expenditures which put financial burdens on families and allegedly erode authentic traditions.

The participants of the meeting took a collective resolution to promote simple and meaningfill rituals rooted in Manipur's rich cultural legacy.

Meanwhile, the All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) convened a Sakha Committee Conference at Lamlai Nongada in Imphal East district today.

The conference witnessed the participation of over 100 women.

As per a release issued by AMNM, the conference urged the Government to take immediate action to end the prolonged conflict and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.

The conference also decided to pressure th.e Governor to take necessary steps to resettled the internally displaced persons at their native places.

Also, the conference elected new members of the Sakha Committee, including Ph Prema as president.

Ph Ranjana as secretary and Ph Nirupama as treasurer.
