Imphal, July 13 2026:
Apunba Manipur Ema (AME) observed its 1st Foundation Day at the Community Hall, Kwakeithel Tidim Ground on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest, AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi said there are many organisations in the State, but it is better to have many groups working with a common goal rather than remain divided.
She stressed the need for mothers of Manipur to step in and support during crises in every locality, despite challenges.
Nganbi alleged that the current unrest in the state stems from Manipur's merger with India.
She stated that because the State Government functions under the Government of India, it cannot take independent decisions, which has led to Manipur's plight.
"There are two types of conflict - for development and for destruction.
The conflict in Manipur is to destroy the State", she said.
She urged that if the Centre does not want a Bangladesh-like situation in Manipur, it must treat the people with respect and as citizens, or unrest will continue.
The event was presided over by AME president Thongam Inaocha.
Laishram Mema, convenor, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, and AME advisor Lourembam Sachirani attended as guests of honour.
Retired District and Sessions Judge Aribam Noutuneshwari was the resource person.
