MSCW emphasizes on legal literacy and education for women empowerment

The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) organised a one-day capacity building programme on "Empowerment Through Education & Legal Literacy" today at Dhanamanjuri Community College Hall, Dhanamanjuri College of Science, Imphal.
Speaking at the programme, W Phajatombi Devi, Member Secretary, MSCW and Additional Director (IPR) highlighted the importance of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) .
She stated that CISF plays a vital role in safeguarding National infrastructure such as airports, railways, and metro systems, and emphasized that their services deserve greater public appreciation and awareness.
Phajatombi also spoke on the role of the MSCW, describing it as a women-centric body dedicated to empowering women.
She underscored the significance of the technical sessions organised during the programme and urged students and teachers present to participate actively.
She further stated that the Commission is focusing on providing free marital counselling this year.
The National Commission for Women has initiated a visionary programme titled "Tere Mere Sapne", under which Pre-Marital Communication Centres (PMCCs) are being established in various youth-centric institutions and offices, particularly targeting young men and women, she added.
The programme reportedly aims to prepare youth emotionally, mentally, and socially before marriage to help them lead successful and fulfilling married lives.
Addressing the gathering, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson, MSCW, quoted the saying "good listeners are good learners" and urged the students to pay close attention to the sessions, emphasizing that the knowledge gained would be essential in their lives.
She spoke about the pivotal role of MSCW as a platform for addressing issues faced by women.
Speaking on legal literacy, she pointed out that many people are still unaware of existing laws and their legal rights.
She stated that the programme was organised to spread awareness about laws, legal rights, and relevant Acts concerning women.
The programme included technical sessions on "Capacity Building Programme for Youth Aspiring to Join the Central Paramilitary Force" delivered by Mohnish Bagree, Deputy Commandant/CASO, CISF Unit, Imphal Airport, Manipur and "Legal Literacy: A Tool for Women's Empowerment" conducted by Aribam Noutuneshwari Devi.
The programme was attended by Professor Dr N Subhashchandra Singh, Nodal Officer, DM Community College, Imphal; SK Sophia Moyon, Member, MSCW; along with students and teachers of Dhanamanjuri Community College.
